What are the functions of micro DC motors'position sensors?

Date:2024-01-18 Author:XINDA MOTOR

There are many applications for micro DC motors. They are used in products that need to generate power. Micro motors convert electrical energy into mechanical energy by inputting DC voltage. Micro motors rotate at high speed. The greater the voltage input, the faster the rotation speed. Micro motors are divided into brushed DC motors and brushless DC motors. In micromotor applications, carbon brush motors have low cost and convenient speed adjustment. They are used in many fields such as beauty instruments, electronic locks, electric toys, power tools, smart homes, etc. Carbon brush motor.

Position sensors are used in micro motors. What are their functions? Xinda Motor will briefly explain them below.

First, let’s briefly introduce what brush motors and brushless motors are. The rotor of a carbon brush motor is a coil winding, which is connected to the output shaft. The stator is a permanent magnet. A commutator is installed on the rotor, and a pair of them are fixed on the back cover. Electric brush or carbon brush. This type of motor is called a carbon brush motor. Brushless motors do not have commutators and brushes, but they are expensive and have complicated speed regulation.

The role of the position sensor in the micromotor is to measure the position of the rotor magnetic pole, provide commutation information for the circuit switch, convert the position signal of the rotor magnet pole into an electrical signal, and then control the commutation of the stator winding. Common electromagnetic sensors, magnetic sensors, and photoelectric sensors are common.

Electromagnetic sensors are more commonly used in micromotors. Photoelectric sensors are made using the photoelectric effect. Magnetic sensors are also widely used. The basic principles are Hall effect and magnetoresistive effect. Common ones are Hall element or Hall integrated circuit, etc.

The above is the function of the micro DC motors' position sensor.
