How is the service life of brushless motors

The service life of brushless motors is usually on the order of tens of thousands of hours, but the service life of brushless motors also varies greatly due to different bearings.

First of all, three aspects are related to the factors of the brushless motor itself:


1. Bearing life (once the bearing is damaged, the bearing needs to be replaced)

2. Demagnetize the magnetic steel (there is nothing you can do about it, unless you can magnetize it)

3. Coil problems (the general aging time is more than 10 years, how to avoid coil aging? This requires that the temperature of the coil should not be too high and ensure good heat dissipation, thereby extending its service life. Of course, overheating and burning also fall into this category. ) Obviously, bearings and coils are very important to the life of a brushless motor. Don't think that a small motor occupies a small place in the device and is very inconspicuous. If the motor you buy is of low quality, and the components used in the low-end brand motor (such as bearings and coils) are of poor quality, the equipment should replace the motor. Once problems occur, the motor should replace the bearing coils.


Second, environmental factors, brushless DC motors should be used in a ventilated, dry, non-corrosive environment with normal air temperature and pressure. If there are corrosive gases and high humidity in a harsh environment, it is easy to damage the electrical and mechanical performance of the motor due to environmental factors. Therefore, appropriate motor protection measures must be taken according to environmental conditions. So, when asked how long do brushless motors last? This is really not a good arbitrary answer, as its longevity does depend on many factors. Of course, a good quality motor will last longer than a poor quality motor.


Finally, due to the different skill levels of personnel operating brushless motors, unexpected errors may occur when operating the motor, such as stopping immediately after starting. Overload start; fault start will cause damage to the brushless motor, thus affecting its service life.
